Italy against USA, Alfa Romeo Giulietta against Ford Focus: here is the today comparison, animated by the most sporting diesel variants of the two cars, the Sprint Speciale and ST; both equipped with a two-liter turbodiesel (175 HP for the Giulietta and 185 HP for the Focus), these compact cars represents a good compromise between performance, driving pleasure and comfort in the everyday use. *errata: Ford Focus ST 2.0 TDCi from 34.000 Euro Take the four wheels of the “snake”, for example: the Giulietta Sprint Speciale can indeed count on increased tailpipes, specific alloy wheels, side skirts and suspension with sports setup, but also on a very luxurious interior, with seats upholstered in fabric and Alcantara, leather steering wheel and sporty aluminum pedals. The Blue Oval model is instead characterized by the more muscular design, with subtle headlights, sporty hood, side skirts and rear spoiler, while inside we find Recaro seats, chrome shift knob and sports pedals. Driving them, we notice how, despite 10 HP less, the performance of the Giulietta Sprint Speciale with change TCT are roughly equal (if not slightly better) than the Focus ST; the Stars&Stripes car, however, prevails (slightly, also in this case) as regards aspects such as the trunk capacity and the average fuel consumption, while the outer dimensions of the two vehicles are almost the same, with a length of about 4.35 meters. In conclusion, the sportiest diesel variants of Juliet and Focus seem to equate, reducing the choice between the two to merely aesthetic factors.
