We felt very passionately
that we needed to tell human stories that help
to understand that the global refugee crisis
is not just happening over there.
It’s happening right here. We really want people to see
that behind every huge crisis is a face. Who are these people?
How can we be part of helping them, and not hurting them,
and blaming them and pointing fingers? Where we’re saying that domestic
violence, or physical violence, or gang violence, are
no longer reasons to gain asylum in another country?
And to me, that is literally taking the humanity out
of the human race. I want people to see who
other people are and how we are all so alike and we all have families and
hopes and dreams and desires and every right to pursue them.
