Max Herrera, 2013 PVSA Recipient | AT&T

(music)  Hello, my name is Max Herrera,   I work in Finance in the Business Solutions Team.   I was the recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2013.   I was a Gold recipient   and it was basically based on the engagement   that I’ve had with the HACEMOS organization.   HACEMOS stands for the   Hispanic Latino Association of Employees at AT&T.   And what I liked in particular about the association   was the environment within our members;   the mission to foster an environment where we help each other   professionally, personally, and in the community.   Why did I get connected with HACEMOS? I think most importantly   was the knowing the risk that there is in the Hispanic community,   where we have students who are not finishing high school.   There is a high drop out rate in the Hispanic, Latino community   and they’re not pursuing an education to a higher level   and not attending college.   So I thought this was good way   that I can help and be engaged in the community   and try to do the best to let them know they are the future   and if they want to start working in corporate   America they do need to be prepared.   (sonic logo)
