To sprint at high speeds requires a lot of co-ordination, so we use these drills to teach the movement mechanics that then transfers onto the pitch. We use the sixty meter max sprint to train the hamstring through that high velocity action. Max speed drill breaks down both starting acceleration and max speed. So we want to stay, stay at that 45 degree angle during the acceleration and ease our way into top speed. At top speed mechanics we want to be relatively upright with our posture, and adopt that figure four position with that knee drive, being nice and snappy. Maintaining that toe up position as we’re contacting the floor so our heel doesn’t touch. This is really important for our wide players who perform the most max speed sprints so they can get past their opponent.
